CADENCE HOOKS

I explore the ways in which our environment echoes and governs our psychological and physiological state. Nature is medicinal and restorative. Through a transcendentalist lens, I investigate what transformations occur within ourselves when we embrace nature’s influence. Energetic canvases heavy with thick layers of paint search for ways in which the natural world can alter our consciousness when we relinquish control. Through these paintings conceived en plein air and in the studio, I seek to understand the multi-faceted euphoria of being in nature. It inspires beauty and truth but also reminds us of the complete vulnerability of the human experience.
